Big storm aiming for the northeast this weekend.
A cold front is expected to plow through the region this weekend. But will not just be any cold front, but a strong potent one. Like Tuesday-Thursday there will be strong winds and windswept rain. A tropical wave down in the SW caribbean has a lot of talk where it will go. Let's go in to detail. First of all the tropical wave is being monitored by the National Hurricane Center. Has been upgraded from #93L to PTC (Potential tropical cyclone) #18. Here is what could be Philippe looks like now.

He is expected to become a tropical storm later tonight-Saturday. After PTC 18 leaves this area it will go northeast in to Cuba tomorrow. The models have been struggling as an area of low pressure is expected to form just west of North Carolina and move east to northeast. Here is what I'm talking about.

When and if Philippe is in this position he will allow a new storm to strengthen and steal some of PTC 18's moisture. Higher amounts seems likely in NY/Northern PA

(Owen Anastas map) most of us agree this map may play out as planned. Mentioned earlier the winds. The winds will be howling, gusting as high as 70 MPH for the cape and the island is likely.

(Owen Anastas map) Power outrages are likely across the region especially in eastern New England.
My map for the northeast

Yes, some Appalachian mountain snow! First snow as the storm pulls some cold air and snow starts to bleed in. Only for the Appalachian though. Our snows will come soon. Just wait for a little longer! :)
