The 12 year Major Hurricane Drought ends today

An extremely scary scene this morning as the sun comes up on Hurricane Harvey.(image from COD)
Harvey is currently a 110mph category 2 hurricane, only 1mph away from becoming a major category 3.
It is currently undergoing an ERC (eyewall replacement cycle) which makes the wind field bigger and stronger and only makes impacts worse for the coast.

Harvey is poised to make landfall as a high end cat 3/low end cat 4 near Corpus Christi, TX. Storm surge of 6-12 feet and wind gusts up to 140mph should be expected in the direct path of Harvey. Rain totals up to and exceeding 35" are likely as the storm will sit and spin for many days.
Harvey is also likely to do a loop and re emerge over the gulf and that will be talked about more in tomorrow's blog! For now, stay safe!!
